Bishop Monkton Neighbourhood Plan

Taking Control of Development Decisions in our Village

The Neighbourhood Plan is a Statutory Document resulting from a community-led initiative that enables residents to influence the village’s future development by expressing their needs and priorities. It sets policies for housing, infrastructure, green spaces, and amenities, seeking to enhance local quality of life through sustainable development.

The plan is developed by a dedicated group comprising local residents, the Parish Council, and a specialist Planning Consultant, with extensive engagement and consultation involving surveys and public meetings to ensure the community’s views shape the area’s evolution.

The document will have two main impacts, firstly it will help shape the nature of future development in our village and secondly it will deter Developers looking for a quick, simple and easy target for unsympathetic development. The Neighbourhood Plan cannot stop government mandated development, but it can shape it.
