Avant proposal for 58 homes in Bishop Monkton

The Avant Planning application was narrowly approved by the North Yorkshire Planning Committee following a lively discussion.

The focus of most of the debate was inevitably on Yorkshire Water and potential Flooding/Sewage issues. Resident David Richold and the Parish Council Chairman spoke as Objectors. The Parish Council is disappointed that the approval went ahead without a condition to force Yorkshire Water to prove that they had capacity to cope with the increase in housing. The committee also pushed hard for this but were overruled by the North Yorkshire legal advisor.

The Parish Council would like to thank all those residents and also, Cllr Nick Brown, our councillor in NYC who added their voices to object to this proposal.

This result further underlines why the creation of a Neighbourhood Plan to shape future developments is a crucial next step for Bishop Monkton.
