Neighbourhood Development Plan – Resident Participation Begins..
The village was invited to participate in the development of our Neighbourhood Development plan on Saturday, read on for details...
Bishop Monkton is a charming village near the A61 Harrogate to Ripon Road, situated in a shallow valley with woods nearby. The village features a mix of modern houses and a historic core along Bishop Monkton Beck, which runs through the village and eventually joins the River Ure. The Beck is lined with grass and trees, and the village has an “island” formed by Main Street and St John’s Road. The name “Bishop Monkton” comes from the Domesday Book, indicating historical ties to a monastery and the Archbishop of York.
