Election and co-options onto the parish council
At the start of the meeting, Cllr Dean Culshaw was nominated for and accepted the role of Chair of the parish council, closely followed by the co-option of the three applicants for the vacant positions on the council. We’re pleased to announce that Andy Hogg, Phil Goodier and Rupert Scales have been co-opted as councillors. That brings the council up to full strength and we’re looking forward as a council to moving forward.
Children’s Play Area
Gareth gave an update around the children’s play area and was keen to point out some misinformation around future plans around creating a teenagers area in the same space – that’s not part of any plan. Gareth is expecting to have plans outlined in time for the next meeting.
Budget
We also talked over the budget for the coming year, the precept has been the same for the last couple of years and we’re keen to keep it as low as we can but accept that the National Insurance hike which currently applies to Parish Councils too, means that a small rise is inevitable. We’ll have more details in terms of that in the full minutes.
Dog Fouling
We also discussed the issue of dog fouling in the village and how we might further help responsible dog owners. We are looking at a number of things from providing poo bags to getting another bin in the village; more on this as we go forward.
