HGV Watch Working Group

In response to resident concerns about damage caused by HGVs and large vehicles, the Council is forming a dedicated working group to monitor incidents and report them to the appropriate authorities. Read on to learn how you can help protect the village environment.

Over recent months, residents have raised concerns about damage to verges, bollards, and other parts of the village caused by heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and large delivery trucks. These vehicles, often navigating narrow lanes and tight corners, have left visible wear on the village’s infrastructure and green verges.

In response, the Parish Council is establishing a dedicated working group to monitor the situation and ensure that any incidents are reported promptly to the relevant authorities. The group will work closely with residents to identify problem areas, gather evidence, and liaise with North Yorkshire Council and other agencies where necessary.

What the working group will do

  • Monitor key locations where damage is occurring
  • Record and report incidents involving large vehicles
  • Liaise with local authorities and highways teams
  • Explore preventative measures such as signage or further restrictions
  • Provide residents with a clear route to raise concerns

This initiative is part of the Council’s broader commitment to protecting the character and safety of Bishop Monkton. By working together, we can help ensure that our village remains a safe and pleasant place for all.
