Essential Drainage Works on Knaresborough Road

North Yorkshire Council will be carrying out essential drainage improvement works at the junction of Knaresborough Road and St Johns Road, Bishop Monkton.

 

Key Information

  • Location: Junction of Knaresborough Road and St Johns Road
  • Dates: 21 September to 5 October
  • Traffic Management: Road closure in place on Knaresborough Road
  • Purpose: To improve and maintain the highway drainage network

 

What Work Is Being Carried Out?

  • Replacement of an existing 100mm drainage pipe with a new 150mm uPVC pipe
  • Connection to the existing 225mm Yorkshire Water foul sewer
  • Associated drainage maintenance and improvement works

 

Why Is This Work Needed?

The drainage system plays a vital role in:

  • Removing surface water from the road
  • Improving safety for road users
  • Reducing the risk of flooding and standing water
  • Protecting the road surface from long-term water damage
